You Can’t Be Them And I Can’t Be They
Each day I ask myself can this world get any crazier and each I find out that it can. I get the fact that every person marches to the beat of their own drum, I do, but there are somethings I can't seem to comprehend.
Let's start with an easy one that is not too controversial, math. I don't care how you arrange the numbers, if you turn them up side down, if you put on on top and the other on bottom or if they are side by side, 2 + 2 = 4. Doesn't matter how you come to that conclusion two plus two will always equal four. That leads me into where I am going with this.
In school we were taught nouns, verbs, pronouns, and adjectives. Nouns are people, places, and things. Verbs are action words and adjectives are descriptive words. Pronouns are words used in place of proper names. These words are what they are and we cannot change the meaning of them. Although this generation seams to change the meaning of everything, especially when it comes to sexuality. Boys are girls now and girls are boys and people are things and things are people and most of it I don't understand. Don't get me wrong, I understand people are free to live their lives the way they want to, but you cannot force things that will never be on people.
Let's go back to, no matter how you do it 2 + 2 =4. To me there is no question if you are a boy or a girl. All you have to do is look down and biology will tell you that you are either a boy or a girl. Not that hard to figure out. Now I know people can change into a different sex these days but when you are born, it is pretty definitive what sex you are. Another thing that is pretty definitive is that you are a single person. Unless you are a set of conjoined twins, then you are one single person, meaning there is not two of you.
Over the weekend I got caught up on "This Is Us," and I was pretty disturbed at what they are allowing children to believe these days. It is our job as adults to teach them what correct meaning of things are. Anyway, back to the show. On the show there are two girls that are gay and one of them demands to be referred to as a them or a they. Does she have a mouse in her pocket, does she have multiple personalities, then she is a she or a him or a her, there are not more than one of her. The word they or them is describing people in a plural term. If there is one of you, you can't be a them. Two plus two cannot be three, there is no way around it. Just like when Demi Lavato decided that she loved everyone so she would just be a them. That is not possible. It is not possible to be a boy if you are born a girl unless you physically alter yourself but at the end of the day you will still have been born a girl and have a female make up.
