Whiskey Myers is a huge favorite here in West Texas. They are quickly becoming favorites of more than just Texans. Their music has been featured in the hit series "YellowStone" and is now going to be featured in Angelina Jolie's new movie. The song is called, " Early Morning Shakes," and the movie is called " Those Who Wish Me Dead." "Early Morning Shakes" is the title track to their album that came out in 2014.
Not only was Whiskey Myers music featured in "Yellowstone" but they were as well. They were playing at one of the bars. Their music has been featured in multiple episodes.
Whiskey Myers hales from the East Texas town of Palestine. They band came together as lead singer Cody Cannon and John Jeffers began trying to learn guitar together from the music of Lynyrd Skynrd, Hand Williams Jr and Waylon Jennings. Later a co-worker joined the two and they called themselves Lucky Southern. I bet you didn't know that, Whiskey Myers was originally called Lucky Southern.
Here is a funny story I have about Whiskey Myers. A few years ago at Crudefest, it was my turn to bring the band off stage, thank goodness it wasn't bringing them on stage because I called them the Turnpike Troubadours. I blamed it on being drunk which I was not and everyone cheered, so it was all good.
