5 Must-Know Things For The Red Dirt BBQ Festival
It's almost here, Permian Basin! The 2nd Annual Red Dirt BBQ Festival happens Saturday, April 11, and we know you're excited. Whiskey Myers is ready to rock, Wade Bowen is geared up, and we've got some great opening acts ready for you. Did we mention all the BBQ you're going to stuff your face with?
Amidst all the excitement, we know you've got some questions. So, here are five things you definitely need to know before heading over to Scharbauer Sports Complex for the festivities!

Am I Allowed To Bring A Bag
Always one of the biggest questions surrounding any event, right? The short answer to this is yes. We want you to be able to carry those things you need, but we do have some rules.
The bag MUST be clear. If we can't see inside it from the outside, you can't have it with you. Anything outside of that, such as purses, fanny packs, backpacks, or cooler bags, won't be allowed into the event. If you have a lawn chair inside a bag, that's ok...but we'll be making you take that chair out so we can look inside.
Are Chairs & Blankets Allowed
Since we just mentioned chairs, you probably just got the answer to this question, but let's dive into it a bit. Yes, chairs and blankets are allowed; however, there will be some areas where you can't have them.
Both the VIP and non-VIP areas will have plenty of places to utilize these items, but if you were planning on posting up with a chair right in front of the stage, you may want to think about whether or not you'd rather have the chair, or be able to touch Whiskey Myers (don't do that either unless they want you to please).
Are We Dancing In The Rain?
It's Midland, so yeah, the chance for rain is always there. Here's how we view it. If it's just raining and nothing else? Bring your poncho, because the show will still go on! I mean, everything is more fun in the rain anyway, right? Oh, yes, you CAN bring an umbrella, but it has to be a smaller collapsible one. None of these huge golf umbrellas or ones with metal tips on the umbrella. Cool?
Now, if there's thunder and lightning in the area, we get a bit more serious. Severe weather will have us evacuating the facility and having you go to your vehicle. We will gather up some public safety officials along with the bands and discuss the next steps from there.
I'm Hungry & Thirsty
So are we! If you get hungry, we'll have several options for you. The BBQ restaurants participating in the festival are allowed to bring extra BBQ to sell, so if they decide to do so, it'll be available to everyone after 4 pm. If not, we will have some incredible food trucks on-site for you.
Now the big question, alcohol. Yes, there will be some bars available to you in the parking lot and pavilion. However, you need to make a stop before there...because you'll need to purchase drink tickets. Those booths will be by the bars, so yeah, it's kind of one-stop shopping. The VIP section will also have a bar available to them, but only VIP's for that one.
I've Got A Stack Of Cash. Can I Use It?
Well, you can use it, just not here. We are CASHLESS, so that stack of cash? Leave it at home or put it in your bank account, because we won't be able to take it. So if you're planning on purchasing tickets when you get there, or drinks inside, you'll want to have that fancy piece of plastic ready.
The vendors inside, such as food trucks or BBQ restaurants, they MIGHT accept cash, so if you have some on you, they might take it, but no promises. Just bring a card or two with you, you'll thank us later.
But...I Still Have More Questions
We thought you might, so we have this fancy website thing that has the answer to even more questions you have, and you can check it out by clicking here.
Can't wait to see you this weekend!
