Every Wednesday at 9:10am, Gwen and Gunner feature a different pet that needs a new forever home here in the Basin. Sometimes it's a dog, sometimes it's a cat. They haven't had any guinea pigs, hamsters, birds or snakes---yet. But you never know!

This sweet little fluff ball is now available for adoption!  Benji is a 6 month old Morkie who is full of energy but also very cuddly!  He loves most dogs and plays with toys.  He is excellent with people and would make a great family pet!  Benji is up to date on all of his vaccines and has been neutered.  His only requirement is a fenced in backyard.  If you would like to meet Benji, our visiting hours are 1-4:30pm every day of the week except Thursdays!

And if for some reason you're not looking for a pet right now--please click SHARE and post this to your social media so we can help Benji find his forever home. Or perhaps you're looking for a new furry friend who's a dog. There are so many fur babies who would love to meet you-so stop by and pay them a visit! There are plenty of dogs and cats to choose from who would love to be your next family member.

The Lonestar Sanctuary For Animals can always use supplies as well so if you can, stop by and drop off a donation to help the staff care for the shelter animals til they can find their forever homes. Needed right now:

Cleaning supplies

Puppy Pee Pads

Blankets

Unopened / New Dog and Cat Food

Cat Litter

Items can be dropped off at the office at 4200 Fairgrounds Road in Midland during business hours. Thank You!

LOOK: Here Are 30 Foods That Are Poisonous to Dogs

To prepare yourself for a potential incident, always keep your vet's phone number handy, along with an after-hours clinic you can call in an emergency. The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center also has a hotline you can call at (888) 426-4435 for advice.

Even with all of these resources, however, the best cure for food poisoning is preventing it in the first place. To give you an idea of what human foods can be dangerous, Stacker has put together a slideshow of 30 common foods to avoid. Take a look to see if there are any that surprise you.
