Lonestar Sanctuary For Animals in Midland is back open to the public--and every Wednesday at 9:10am, Gwen and Gunner are back to featuring a different pet that needs a new forever home here in the Basin. Sometimes it's a dog, sometimes it's a cat. They haven't had any guinea pigs, hamsters, birds or snakes---yet. But you never know!

Meet Evander!

Evander is a 9 year and ten months young Miniature Pinscher mix.  He is neutered and up to date on his vaccines and looking for that special person or family to give him the love and care he deserves!  Evander does take daily medicine for an under active thyroid and seizure disorder but both of his conditions are easily managed with the medication.  You may see his age and think he is probably a low energy lay around pup, but nothing further from the truth!  Evander has never met a toy he doesn't want to play fetch or tug with!  Tug is probably his favorite game an he is a master!  Evander loves other dogs, especially puppies!  He knows just how gentle to be with the little one.  Evander does have his moments when he just wants a soft dog bed or a warm lap to lay on.  When he wants to get up on the lap of one of our staff members, he taps his two front paws and looks like he is tap dancing!  If you are looking for a sweet playful buddy who is guaranteed to make you laugh everyday, Evander is the dog for you!  There is so much more to say about this amazing dog, but we will let you see for yourself!  Come meet Evander during our visiting hours of 1-4:30pm everyday but Thursdays!  You won't regret the trip!

And if for some reason you're not looking for a pet right now--please click SHARE and post this to your social media so we can help Evander find his forever home. Or perhaps you're looking for a different new furry friend. There are so many fur babies who would love to meet you-so stop by and pay them a visit! There are plenty of dogs and cats to choose from who would love to be your next family member.

LOOK: Here Are 30 Foods That Are Poisonous to Dogs

To prepare yourself for a potential incident, always keep your vet's phone number handy, along with an after-hours clinic you can call in an emergency. The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center also has a hotline you can call at (888) 426-4435 for advice.

Even with all of these resources, however, the best cure for food poisoning is preventing it in the first place. To give you an idea of what human foods can be dangerous, Stacker has put together a slideshow of 30 common foods to avoid. Take a look to see if there are any that surprise you.
