Every Wednesday at 9:10am, Gwen and Gunner feature a different pet that needs a new forever home here in the Basin. Sometimes it's a dog, sometimes it's a cat. They haven't had any guinea pigs, hamsters, birds or snakes---yet. But you never know!

This adorable lab mix puppy is ready for her forever home!  Filled with just the right amount of puppy energy Zara is the perfect family pet or would make a great dog for an active couple or single person.  Zara is 21 weeks old and has been spayed and is up to date on her vaccines.  She loves to play with other dogs but could also be a good only pet.  Like any young dog, Zara would benefit from some basic obedience training.  She is a very friendly, loves treats and is eager to learn.  Because Zara is a bigger dog, she requires her adopter to have a fenced in yard where she can burn off some of that puppy energy.  If you are interested in meeting this sweet girl, our visiting hours are 1-4:30 everyday except Thursdays.

And if for some reason you're not looking for a pet right now--please click SHARE and post this to your social media so we can help Zara find her forever home. Or perhaps you're looking for a new furry friend who's a dog. There are so many fur babies who would love to meet you-so stop by and pay them a visit! There are plenty of dogs and cats to choose from who would love to be your next family member.

LOOK: Here Are 30 Foods That Are Poisonous to Dogs

To prepare yourself for a potential incident, always keep your vet's phone number handy, along with an after-hours clinic you can call in an emergency. The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center also has a hotline you can call at (888) 426-4435 for advice.

Even with all of these resources, however, the best cure for food poisoning is preventing it in the first place. To give you an idea of what human foods can be dangerous, Stacker has put together a slideshow of 30 common foods to avoid. Take a look to see if there are any that surprise you.
