Unless the bottom falls completely out this season, I have a feeling the Cowboys will be searching for at least one new coordinator before next season.

But now that I think about it, they’re probably going to need at least one new coordinator even if the bottom does fall out. I mean, someone has to play the role of scapegoat, right?

Personally, I’m waiting for the wheels to come off this season. The Cowboys have conditioned us to expect them to come up short late in the season and until they prove otherwise, I won’t get too excited about the prospect of the team bringing home another Super Bowl championship.

But let’s imagine what it will be like if they actually win it all this year.

For those of you who weren’t around for those Super Bowls in the 90s, teams started hiring Cowboys coordinators left and right after they started winning championships. Much like the Patriots of the 2000s, teams would hire a coordinator in hopes of capturing some of that championship magic.

The truth is that it rarely works, but teams still haven’t learned their lesson.

So, if the Cowboys do actually put together a championship run, you can bet your ass that teams will be falling over themselves in an effort to lure Defensive Coordinator Dan Quinn and Offensive Coordinator Kellen Moore away from them.

In fact, the NFL betting experts at Oddspedia have both coordinators among the three most likely candidates to be the next Head Coach of the Carolina Panthers along with former New Orleans Saints Head Coach Sean Payton.

Not that I want to see either one of those guys go, but it’ll be totally worth it if the Cowboys take home the Lombardi Trophy.
