Domestic violence has claimed the life of a pro bull rider from Fresno, Texas. Demetrius Omar Lateef Allen was shot and killed in Salt Lake City, Utah on Monday night.

Allen was in Salt Lake to attend the Utah State Fair.

Allen, who goes by the name Ouncie Mitchell, was a 27 year old pro bull rider who was in Utah with his girlfriend. He was found shot outside his girlfriends apartment complex by Salt Lake City police and taken to a nearby hospital where he died.

According to Salt Lake City Police report, Allen's girlfriend, 21-year-old LaShawn Denise Bagley, was arrested on suspicion of murder and felony discharge of a firearm.

SLC Police Respond to Call

The investigation began shortly after midnight on Monday, September 12 when SLC Police were called about a man who had been shot. The investigation revealed that Allen and Bagley had been at a bar earlier in the night and had gotten into an argument. Allen had gone to Bagley's apartment, where he was staying, to get his belongings    when shots were fired.

Police were able to make the arrest and Bagley was booked into jail.

The murder was the 10th homicide in Salt Lake City in 2022.

Allen's death was confirmed by Sean Gleason, Professional Bull Riders CEO. Gleason released a statement saying:

“Ouncie got his name because he was born small. He grew up to compete with a huge heart. The PBR organization sincerely extends our own heartfelt condolences to Ouncie’s cousin Ezekiel Mitchell and the entire Mitchell family.”
