I love this! Encouraging our youth to keep their community beautiful and implementing a little friendly competition and reward them for their efforts even better. The 'Keep Odessa Beautiful Campus Clean-up Rivalry' is underway according to Newswest 9

10 schools total within the Ector County Independent School District, are competing to see who is able to keep their school campus clean and recycle the most items? Clever. I cannot tell you how many times my own children have come home talking about a competition in their school to collect as many canned goods as possible, or pennies for various charities or what have you. Kids really like to get involved in doing something good for their community.

This challenge takes place over the course of 6 weeks and students are being educated on how to help keep our environment clean and learn the proper way to recycle plastic and aluminum.

The winning school will receive $250 for their school. If you would like to get in on the action and help not only encourage these students but also do your part in cleaning up, you can participate in the Keep Odessa Beautiful Spring Clean Up Event and Fair this Saturday, 814 W. 42nd st. from 9 am to 12 pm. There will be music, food and free giveaways! Let's Keep Odessa Beautiful.
