The Kelly Clarkson Show just kicked off season 4 with a segment on Uvalde showcasing the Healing Mural Art Project featuring Texas-based artists and volunteers, including well-known El Paso muralist Tino Ortega known for his 3D Mylar balloon murals across town in memory of the August 3 victims.

The singer and TV personality is a Texas native from Fort Worth who recently visited with the Healing Mural Art Project team in the Downtown District of Uvalde.

Once there, Clarkson spent the afternoon with the project leaders Monica Maldonado, director and founder of the Austin-based non-profit MAS Cultura, and Abel Ortiz, a professor at Southwest Texas Jr. College and a Uvalde-based artist.

Together, Maldonado and Ortiz created the Uvalde Healing Arts Mural Project by launching a Fundraiser on GoFundMe to complete a series of 21 murals memorializing each child shooting victim.

During the Kelly Clarkson Show segment, the singer broke down as she traveled through the small town, sharing that the neighborhoods reminded her of where she grew up in Fort Worth.

After spending the day learning about each child through the murals, she announced to both Maldonado and Ortiz that she wanted to help by donating $10k towards the cause.

And according to Ortiz, the amount was just enough to help complete the project, which has raised over $22K via the GoFundMe page since its inception.
