El Paso Events We Need For Peeps Not Going Back To School

Some El Paso students are already back at it and others start soon but, for some, back to school is no longer an issue. Here are some activities for those folks ...

The "back to school" season comes with all kinds of hoopla - back to school sales, the KLAQ Back To School Expo, the Texas tax - free weekend, local clinics offering physical fitness examinations, etc, etc. What about those not playing the back to school game anymore?

Like many El Pasoans, my kids are no longer "school - age" so, none of that stuff matters to us anymore. We could give a ____ but, where are our special days, events and sales?

Special Events For Non - Back To Schoolers

The Texas tax free weekend is usually timed for around the start of school and while that does apply to us, why can't they add a few things to the list of non - taxable items?

I don't need to buy notebooks and pencils and stuff anymore but I still drink - they should put alcohol on the list. I also have more free time to go shooting and riding now so, I think ammo and motorcycle parts should be on that list too. Please?

Back To (No) School Sales

Ditto for special sales. Back to school sales are great for clothes and stuff but how about discounting booze and, um, hello ... Sunland Park dispensaries - are you reading this?

A week of specials on tacos at Lucy's, bbq from Rib Hut, Cajun food done Crawdaddy's style or some high end fare from Sabor. Yum. Not to mention extended happy hour specials,that would be amazing. All day, everyday maybe?

Back To School Expo

They should find a big, open air mall like the Fountains or the Outlet Shoppes and set up booths for everything not back to school. Barnett Harley Davidson could showcase the new models. Hero Music could have a booth for parents who now have more time to play or lean an instrument.

Don't forget food and drinks. El Paso has an army of food trucks and some have liquor licenses. We'll call it the Back To "Cool" Expo. Any other ideas? Put 'em in the comments ...
