Midland City Officials Issue Statement About Fireworks

The city of Midland has released a statement regarding the upcoming holiday, which almost always includes fireworks of some kind.  The Midland Fire Department, in partnership with the Midland Police Department, has publicly stated that popping fireworks within city limits is STRICTLY prohibited.

However, it is much more than just that.  There is a city ordinance officially banning the possession, sale, or use of fireworks within city limits.  The Midland Police Department has confirmed that they will be heavily patrolling neighborhoods and popular spots throughout the city.  It is important to know that any violators could possibly face a fine of up to $2,000.

Why Is There An Ordinance Against Fireworks in Midland?

City officials were adamant that they are not trying to ruin anyone's Fourth of July.  They are attempting to prevent mishaps such as house fires, grass fires, or potential injuries.

Where to Legally Pop Fireworks on July 4th

Generally, fireworks are allowed to be popped in unincorporated areas just outside Midland County as long as you are more than 5000 feet from the city limit and not on any public road or highway.

2025's Hottest Fireworks Picks

Shopping for fireworks is a lot like picking out a new vehicle. While you're interested in what a car or truck can do, we generally pick based on how they look. The fireworks store is full of sensory-overload designs and hilarious images, but logos rarely tell you what it does. We visited King Fireworks in Geronimo, OK, where they have a cool scanner system that pulls up the fireworks on TVs throughout the store so you can see what you're buying, but here are their top picks and best bangs for your buck this year.
