Is It Illegal To Put On Makeup While Driving In Texas?
We all do things we are not supposed to do. We have all been guilty of texting while driving, playing games on our phones, eating, or putting on makeup. I would venture to say the percentage of doing one of these things while driving is probably around 90 percent. This is not good because that means at some point of driving we are driving while distracted.
Ladies how many times have you been running late and just decided to put on your makeup on the way somewhere? I have to admit that I have done it more times than I can count. How many times have you seen someone putting on mascara while driving? I know, I know, I shouldn't do it but is it illegal?
Technically there is no Texas law that states you cannot apply your makeup while driving, however, there are laws against distracted driving. You can basically be pulled over and ticketed for anything that causes you to be distracted, whether that is using your cell phone will driving, meaning talking to texting. In some Texas cities, it is illegal to even have your phone in your hands while driving.
A few of the other things that are listed as distracted driving are taking your eyes off the road, taking your hands off the wheel, or basically daydreaming or letting your mind wander.
So in other words a cop can pull you over for anything they feel you are doing is distracting.
I don't do it often but have been guilty of putting on makeup while driving, but I will try not to do it anymore.
