We hear people all the time saying there is nothing to do in Midland and Odessa so when we come across a gem we didn't know about, we have to share it.

A few years ago Altitude Trampoline Park opened in Odessa and most recently Urban Air and the Little Gym opened in Midland. We all got our hopes up thinking Water Wonderland would be resurrected to discover that it was demolished and turned into  commercial property.

There are all kinds of little hidden gems around the Basin that you may not know about. I recently discovered Midland has a BMX park. West Texas BMX is located at 2101 Cuthbert Ave in Midland. If you are going down Fairgrounds road take a left on Cuthbert. It is located in Reyes-Mashburn-Nelms Park.

They offer practice days on Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 6-8 pm, and Saturdays 3-5 pm. They also host race days.

There are a few things you should know before you go:

All riders must be USA BMX members. Riders can purchase a one-day membership or a 60-day membership for $40.  You can always upgrade to a full membership at any time.

All riders must have long sleeve shirts, long pants, closed-toed shoes, and a helmet. Full-face helmets are recommended but not required.

You can obviously bring and ride your own bike but loaner bikes are available to rent.

Coaching sessions will available soon during practices.

This Saturday, March 25th, former BMX pro Hojo Johnson will be hosting a clinic from 8:30 am to 10:30 am.
