If you love baseball, this is one of the best times to live in West Texas.

I've been really excited about the Schlumberger Tournament of Champions this weekend.  This is one of Midland's longest-running sporting events and brings in high-profile teams from all over Texas.  Although it kicked off Thursday, there are plenty of games to go.  The TOH runs through Saturday and features teams from Midland, Odessa, El Paso, Amarillo, Lubbock, Plainview, Andrews and Grapevine.  There are 16 teams in all and a lot of those teams made the playoffs in their divisions.  We're talking about some great teams and quality athletes.
The games will be played in Midland at Zachery Field, Christensen Stadium, Security Bank Ballpark and Ernie Johnson Field.  The weather is supposed to be in the 80s today and tomorrow, so if you're a baseball fan, there's no excuse to miss America's Favorite Pastime. You can check out the schedule of games here.

Sports has always been important in West Texas.  We're lucky that we get a large number of tournaments from tennis to track, baseball to football, swimming to golf.  Midland/Odessa has been home to those tournaments for decades.  In addition to enjoying some good competition, go out to support these tournaments that bring a lot of visitor dollars into our community.
