Every morning at 8:50 Gunner and I give you  a feel good story of the day. Not often are they local but today's Feel Good comes from right here in Odessa. As you all know we here at LoneStar 923 are very big supporters of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and over the years many of you have jumped on board with us. St Jude Children's Research Hospital treats children with childhood cancer and other catastrophic diseases at no cost to the patient or their families. St Jude is an organization that runs primarily on donations, so when I see someone joining us in the fight, I have to support them.

The other day I came across an article from the Odessa American, about a young 5th grade girl who is selling necklaces to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital because someone in her family had been affected by cancer.

In a story done by the  Odessa American a young 5th grade girl named Khole Rubalcaba learned of her aunt having cancer, she wanted to do something to help. She watched an even helped her mother, father, family and friends raise money for her aunt. She decided she wanted to do something to help out and that's when she started making bracelets and keychains in order to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

“My favorite part is that when I sell them and get the money, I’m thinking about all those kids out there that are getting this money will be having good lives,” Khloe said. “I might have a good life but other kids may not. I just want them to feel the same way I do. I feel happy when I make one dollar. Even if it’s one penny, I’m excited to help out in any way because it’s going to help a kid out there who needs it.”  Klhoe  Odessa Amercian

Since the start of her fundraising Khloe has been able to raise $67. She has a goal to raise $100 by October to give to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.

I told the story on the air this morning and one of amazing listeners called up and wants to give the other $33 to help her reach her goal. We are going to extend an invitation for Khloe and her family to join us next February during out Country Cares for St. Jude Kid's Radiothon and give her a few more month to raise money to fight childhood cancer. I saw we all donate to Khloe's cause and show her how mighty a dream can be and how many lives it can change. I am meeting with her mom this afternoon so we can come up with a way to help K
