Not Fake News: West Texas Is Getting An Ojos Locos

Yesterday news went around that Ojos Locos Sports Cantina was coming to Odessa. Later it was reported that it was fake news and not true because of the comments made to the Coming Soon RGV page that the story was made up because of a slow news day.

After a post was made saying the post was fake new Coming Soon RGV followed up with a comment claiming it was true and that they wouldn't post something that wasn't.

So, I decided to follow up and find out if it was true or if it was made it up. Thanks to the help of Coming Soon RVG, I can confirm according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, Ojos Locos Sports Cantina does have a projected registered at 5105 E 42nd Street, with a projected opening date of August 5, 2024. Construction is set to begin in June.

Everyone is always wanting more options when it comes to dining here in West Texas and now another new addition has been announced. Coming Soon RVG announced this morning via their Facebook page that Ojos Locos Sports Cantina will be opening in Odessa in August of this year.

According to Coming Soon RVG Ojos Locos will move into the building previously occupied by Logan's Roadhouse on 42nd next to Olive Garden. Ojos Locos Sports Cantina falls into the category of "breastaruant." This means this will be a restaurant similar to Hooters and Twin Peaks where the staff, known as "chicas" wear short skirts and cleavage-bearing tops.

The first Ojos Locos was founded in 2010 by a group of restaurateurs, one of whom originally founded Twin Peaks. Ojos Locos being a sister restaurant to Twin Peaks markets itself to the working-class Hispanic men, with most of the employees being able to speak both English and Spanish.

Like Twin Peaks, they pride themselves in keeping their beer at very cold 29 degrees. They are also known for their "balones," tall pitchers of beer that contain 100 US fluid ounces. Their menu is a mix of Mexican and Southwestern American dishes but their most popular menu item is their tacos.

Ojos Locos is a sports cantina so you can expect to find your favorite sport on one of their many big screens, especially soccer, boxing, and UFC. The Odessa venue plans to open in August so that will be just in time for football.

Have you been to an Ojos Locos? We actually just recently at the one in Arlington by the ballpark and let me just tell you the chicas left nothing to the imagination if you know what I mean! Although I do have to say the chicken avocado salad was quite good.
