CBS 7 reports that ECISD Superintendent Scott Muri is reporting 100 more cases than at the peak of the last school year, but as of now, he says there are no plans to close or go virtual.

But because of the virus and lack of staffing, they are going to consolidate classrooms so they can continue in-person learning.

Midland is also seeing more COVID numbers compared to last year and MISD is also keeping schools open and plans to keep it that way since students do better at learning in school than they do at home.

Midland and Odessa schools are keeping their doors open but other districts in the Basin are having to close their doors like Marfa who have been stretched so thin with teachers, they are closing their doors Thursday, Friday, and Monday.

It is unknown at this time if any other smaller districts will be partially closing because of the lack of teachers but so far Midland and Odessa will not be closing their doors and will continue to consolidate classrooms to keep from having to close down.

Some reports are coming out that cases are hitting a plateau and the next couple of months should see cases coming down.

If that trend continues, then we might not have to see school closures because of the coronavirus.

We will let you know if anything changes and if Midland and Odessa schools do decide to close schools down but for now, that is not going to happen.
