What is this insect?

This "creature" was creepy.  Even Gwen was a bit freaked.  The question was posed, does this thing bite or sting?  

Gwen picked it up with a paper towel and tossed it outside.  I promptly went the other direction.

Semi-related, pest control supposedly sprayed my apartment.  Last night when I went to the kitchen for water, flipped on the lights...looking up at me, my pet roach, "Steve".  Pest control needs to spray the whole building and/or try a different product.
