Welcome To West Texas

It's just another day in paradise here in good ol' West Texas. Most people would think we are about to blown away but no jut another spring day in the west.

I always laugh when hurricanes are coming into the coast and people freak out over 50 mile an hour winds, because I'm just like, we deal with it all the time.  I also don't remember the wind and dust being this bad up until the last few years.

We are no stranger to crazy wind in West Texas but it wasn't until a few years ago I learned what a Haboob was.

According to Wikipedia a haboob is defined as:

is a type of intense dust storm carried on an atmospheric gravity current, also known as a weather front. Haboobs occur regularly in dry land area regions throughout the world.

As with haboobs in the Middle East, haboob occurrences in North America are often created by the collapse of a thunderstorm. This is a local or mesoscale event, and at times of extreme drought they can originate in agricultural regions. Some of the most famous dust storms of the Dust Bowl and similar conditions later were in fact synoptic scale events typically generated by a strong cold frontal passage

I cannot believe we are living in a time that is being compared to the Dust Bowl of the early 1900's, that is just crazy to me.

The only good thing is that it did rain before this one blew in and settled some dust.

When you head out today, make sure to keep your mouth closed and wear some kind of glasses. And all you skinny people out there put rocks in your pockets.
