Someone told me I should have already started to THAW OUT MY FROZEN TURKEY! Oops, I guess I should go grab it. Is there a rule to all this? If I do forget to THAW it, what else can I do? Here are some GOOGLED responses to help us all. Because trust I am no expert on this.

WHEN SHOULD YOU START THAWING YOUR TURKEY?

Check out this googled response...

According to the experts, you should thaw a turkey in a refrigerator set to 40°F or below for about 24 hours for each 4 to 5 pounds. If your bird weighs more than 20 pounds, you should start thawing in the fridge on Friday, Nov. 19

Well, I'm screwed there because it's already Monday!

THAW YOUR TURKEY BY HOW MUCH IT WEIGHS!

  • 4- to 12-pound turkey — 1 to 3 days.
  • 12- to 16-pound turkey — 3 to 4 days.
  • 16- to 20-pound turkey — 4 to 5 days.
  • 20- to 24-pound turkey — 5 to 6 days.

Whew!! Okay, I'm good. You see I have a 15-pound turkey this year so I can still start thawing it out today.

CAN I USE WATER TO HELP THAW OUT A TURKEY?

Cold Water Thawing Is A Thing!
Thaw turkey breast side down, in an unopened wrapper, with enough cold water to cover your turkey completely. Change water every 30 minutes and if turkey cannot be completely covered, rotate every 30 minutes to keep the turkey chilled. Estimate a minimum thawing time of 30 minutes per lb of turkey.
Okay COLD water not HOT WATER. I would have thought hot water, let's be real. LOL

Hopefully, you get your TURKEY THAWED OUT and have a Safe and Blessed Thanksgiving!
