Vaccine Requirements Are Forgetting A Little Law Call HIPAA
Yesterday it was announced that New York City would become the first city to require proof of vaccination or face testing at any indoor dining , gyms and performances. This is very similar to what Italy and France did not too long ago. The requirement will go into the effect August 16th but will begin to enforced on September 16th. This is Mayor Bill de Blasio says he is using this requirement to get more people vaccinated. They are also offering people $100 to get vaccinated.
I have two things to say about this:
1. There is something sketchy if the government is trying to pay you to put this in your body. We don't even know what is in this vaccine. This vaccine is not FDA approved, it was given emergency authorization for use. The government no matter what level has never tried to force a vaccine on anyone harder than this. The flu virus has killed as many if not more people than COVID. I am not say COVID isn't real, because I personally know it is and I know people who have not survived it. If you want to get vaccinated, do it. If you don't, don't! Being an American we have the choice of whether or not we will have this vaccine injected. I personally got vaccinated because I thought I was going to need it to travel to another country so I got it, other wise I would not have.
The second point I would like to make is that there is law called HIPAA that protects ones medical information. Here is what the ACLU says about the government having access to your medical records:
Q: Can the government get access to my medical files through the USA Patriot Act?
A: Yes. Section 215 of the Patriot Act allows the FBI Director or his designee to get a court order under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act "requiring the production of any tangible things (including books, records, papers, documents, and other items) for an investigation to protect against international terrorism or clandestine intelligence activities, provided that such investigation of a United States person is not conducted solely upon the basis of activities protected by the first amendment to the Constitution."[vii] This power appears to apply to medical records.
The government might have access to your health records but the restaurant on the corner cannot no Ticketmaster to attend a concert.
Many groups also encourage you to reach out to your congressmen and women to appeal to require a warrant for any government entity to have access to your health records.
