Top 5 New Years’ Resolutions For Texas Newbies!
I'm not sure if you're one who even makes New Years' Resolutions. After all, the number of people who do that are actually able to stick to them is pretty comparable to the odds of winning the $522 million dollar Powerball jackpot tonight. More people get an 'A' for effort rather than being able to see them all the way through. Typically, the usual suspects are things like quitting smoking, weight loss, spending more time with family, taking more vacations, and eating better. Some of those are easily achieved, most are not. But--if you've recently moved to the great state of Texas like me, you're one of the lucky ones. Instead of sticking to the status quo, why not make resolutions that are ALL Texas. The top 5 Resolutions For Newbies to Texas are:
#5. VISIT KING RANCH
You won't run into the Dutton's, but you will see the largest and oldest ranch in Texas.
#4. VISIT THE BIRTHPLACE OF DR. PEPPER---WACO
Everyone loves stopping at Whataburger and getting a Dr. Pepper with your meal, but we wouldn't be able to do that if it weren't for a Pharmacist in Waco back in 1885 named Charles Alderton, who invented the drink while working at a Waco drugstore.
#3. VISIT JR EWING'S FAVORITE PLACE--SOUTHFORK RANCH
You won't recognize the interior, because all the inside shots on Dallas were filmed at a mansion across town. But you'll recognize all the outdoor views. It'll take you right back to SueEllen and JR sparring in the driveway....
#2. GO HORSEBACK RIDING ON THE BEACH AT SOUTH PADRE
There's nothing like going horseback riding on the beach at South Padre Island. When I went-I rode a horse named "Feedlot". They tried to sell me Feedlot for $1,500--but I didn't have a place to keep him.
#1. VISIT THE RIVERWALK IN SAN ANTONIO
There's nothing more fun than taking in all the shopping, restaurants, beverages, and fun of the San Antonio Riverwalk. No matter what your favorite food is--they have it just steps away. And you MUST take a ride on the river before you climb the stairs to leave!
