Since it's a Throwback Thursday--where every week all of us here at Lonestar 92.3 bring back memories by playing Throwback musical favorites all day long that take you way back (songs always bring back memories of the time you either first heard them or a time you cherish where you heard a particular song--it's all tied with lifetime memories)...

Gwen and I started talking about old TV commercials from back in the day--which also then sparked a lot of memories about toys I loved playing with as a child, and the fact you always saw commercials on TV for toys--and they'd always make everything look so fun--that you and your brothers and sisters or friends that were over watching with you would shout out: "I WANT THAT!!!".....

Gwen had examples like Teddy Ruxpin, Barbie (of course) and the fact she never had a Light Bright.... But there were lots of memories of unwrapping toys at Christmas time with the family and how much fun it was to see what Santa had brought... Rock "Em Sock "Em Robots was a favorite, of course I had all of the old Star Wars action figures with their laser guns and light sabres--and even the Death Star, the old Jawa Sand Crawler, the X-Wing Fighter  and Darth Vader's Tie Fighter....

I think we all had the staples from back then--the Play Dough Set, Slinky, Silly Putty, Tinker Toys, Legos.... And there were also many board games like Yahtzee, Candy Land, Sorry, Don't Break The Ice, Chutes and Ladders, Battleship... Hours and Hours of fun with the family and so many great childhood memories around all of those things. I think that's what we need now--is more of that and less screen time. I hope you're getting lots of that with your family for the holidays as we all stay safe and practice safe distancing and mask wearing. Enjoy this Throwback Thursday and the musical memories today and be safe out there!
