Texas Monthly did a review of a new restaurant in the Dallas area called "Odelay Tex-Mex".

While the author did say that the food was good, he noted that a painting inside the restaurant was a big distraction from what he was eating. The article is titled:

This Dallas Tex-Mex Spot Ruins a Good Meal With Distasteful Decor

The painting in question is described as a birds-eye view of our sister city, Ciudad Juárez .

A propeller plane flies above the city. On the bottom left of the painting is a pile of cash; on the bottom right, a handgun. Between the money and the gun are the words: “El Señor de los Cielos,” or “Lord of the Skies.”

“El Señor de los Cielos,” or “Lord of the Skies," refers to Amado Carrillo Fuentes, the leader of the Juárez cartel who died in 1997 whose nickname was “El Señor de los Cielos".

The author of the article, José R. Ralat, says that the owner of Odelay Tex-Mex thinks the painting is "badass" but denies that it's an homage to the cartel leader. But Ralat doesn't think it's badass, in fact, he thinks it's tone-deaf, especially with the recent violence in Juárez. To Ralat, the mural left a bad taste in his mouth.

But the food didn't leave a bad taste in his mouth, in fact, he quite enjoyed it. And while looking through their Instagram- the food does look tasty; in fact, it looks like they also have their own version of El Paso's famous nachos from The Tap.
