Texas’ Favorite New Slang Word is Not What You Would Think
Well Boomers, I hope you're happy. I have officially reached that age where I have no idea what my nephews are talking about!
They're Gen Z and I'm a Millennial- and trust me, there definitely is a language barrier! To them, I'm "cringe" and they say "no cap" for almost everything; which is weird because when I found out what "cap" meant- I called them out, they're nothing but cappers!
Every time I have to look up a word they use on Urban Dictionary, I make them put $5 in the "annoyance jar"; and I feel like such an old lady! But my nephews are not the only ones who make me have to continually look up words on Urban Dictionary.
According to QuillBot, an AI writing tool, every state has their own favorite slang word- and it should come as no surprise that the main ones were "woke" and "Karen". But in Texas, there was one word that dominated our vocabulary.
Texas' Most Popular Slang Word
The research team over at QuillBot researched and revealed the most popular slang word in every state by comparing Google Trends data. QuillBot found that in Texas, the most popular search was for "Simp".
"Simp" is defined as “a slang insult for men who are seen as too attentive and submissive to women, especially out of a failed hope of winning some entitled sexual attention or activity from them.”
It's used as an insult to men, but I've also heard it used on women. It's hilarious, but I have to admit the first time I had to look it up, I felt old. Texas now has to put $5 in my annoyance jar. You can check out more here.
