When it comes to fashion, I like to think of myself as fashion forward.   I wear white after Labor Day.  I often wear socks with sandals. I love one of my mother's sweaters, so even though I'm a guy, I wear it. If  pop star Harry Styles can push the gender limits,  so can I right.  Although to be perfectly honest, my 81-year-old mother can't remember if she bought the aforementioned  sweater in the men's wear section or not.

So, when Reebok came out with their collaboration with the French fashion brand Maison Margiela to create their Classic Leather Tabi Decortique Low back in February, I gave them a hard look. This wasn't their first split in the toe shoe.  This is a trademark look from designer John Galliano with Maison Margiela.  His Decortique line came out in 2020.

I get the feeling a lot of people took a hard look at the Reebok x Maison Margiela Tabi Decortique shoes,  more like a double take,  and decided they just weren't sure they wanted to wear shoes with a split toe. This was especially reinforced for me by the $595 price tag.

Then all of a sudden a fringe Filipino Christian group called The Remnants on theijr Facebook page Prophecy News called the shoes Satanic.

Suddenly, people around the world are talking about these obscure shoes.  The post says the shoes have Baphomet goat feet.  I'm not even googling Baphomet, but I'm guessing that is some sort of demon, or Madonna's newest boyfriend or both.

I'm guessing this whole episode is a bit too convenient. I mean what better way to get these unique and highly priced shoes to fly off shelves than to have them called Satanic. Lil Nas X's blood shoes were called Satanic and they sold out. although they only made 666 pairs to start with.

The best way to sell stuff online is for someone to call it Satanic, or forbidden or controversial. I'm thinking if I want to go all in on the hoof look, I'll just save some money and buy these.

They will only set you back 50 bucks. Or maybe these to go with my darker wardrobe choices.

I can even tell my friends they have a fancy French name like "Sabots fantaisie"  Literally, it means fancy hooves.  It sounds so chic. I mean if Red Stick can translate into Baton Rouge, then why can't my choice of "Satanic" footwear be called "Sabots fantaisie"

Regardless of whether these "hoof" shoes are satanic, they say the fashion you wear makes a statement.  What better way to shout it out to the world: I am the Goat or G.O.A.T and I have the hooves to prove it"
