Rodeo Invades The Ector County Coliseum This Week
It's rodeo time in West Texas. The rodeo world wraps up each year with the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas in December and starts the year off right here in Odessa, at the Ector County Coliseum. The Sandhills Stock Show and Rodeo kicks off the pro-rodeo events for the new year. Cowboys, Cowgirls, and tons of livestock fill the entire grounds of the Ector County Coliseum each January. This year the festivities begin tomorrow January 3rd and run through January 14th with the final rodeo performance and rodeo dance.
This year the Sandhills Stock Show and Rodeo is celebrating 90 years of stock show and rodeo. The first rodeo performance will be Thursday, January 4th, and finish out Saturday, January 14th with a final rodeo performance and dance.
Each night during the rodeo performances you can expect to see bull riding, barrel racing, team roping, bareback riding, and more. Full rodeo performances will be on the 4th, 5th, 6th,11th,12th, and 13th and will start at 7:30 pm. Sunday, the 7th breakaway roping will begin at 10 am at the coliseum, and steer roping will start at 6 pm at the ACE Arena in Andrews.
Don't miss the Super Tuesday Roping event at the Coliseum.
Thursday night is Christian Youth Night with the service starting at 6 pm in Barn G with a rodeo performance to follow.
Friday night, January 12th, don't miss the Rodeo Dance with Texas Music favorite Jon Wolfe with special guest Carson Jeffery. The dance will start right after the rodeo in Barn G. Tickets must be purchased separately for the dance.
