UPDATE (AUG. 7, 8:35PM ET): According to Cauthen's publicist, both the van and trailer have been located, but quite a bit of gear is missing -- including a 1997 Martin D-15 mahogany guitar signed by Kris Kristofferson. A full list of the missing items is below.

Americana artist Paul Cauthen woke up to an upsetting surprise on Tuesday morning (Aug. 7): His trailer and van had been stolen from its parking spot at the Hawthorne Suites by Wyndham in Sacramento, Calif. Cauthen shared a post on Instagram alerting his fans to theft, as well as asking for assistance.

"Sacramento, California help me here," the singer said in the caption of his post. "This van and trailer isn't 2 hours away from me. This was stolen at 9:30 in the morning."

Cauthen -- and his fans in northern California -- are currently still on the lookout for the thieves and the missing vehicle. However, fortunately, none of his upcoming shows have been affected as of Tuesday. Cauthen is in the midst of the West Coast leg of his current tour. Later in August, he plans to make stops in Texas and New Mexico before heading overseas to perform at Tonder Festival in Tønder, Denmark on Aug. 25 and 26.

In June, the singer released his latest project, Have Mercya seven-track song collection that Cauthen describes as "somewhere between an EP and an album" and features the Texas Gentlemen as his backing band. Additionally, in February, Cauthen joined Margo Price for a stop in Dallas, Texas, as part of her Nowhere Fast Tour. The pair performed an uptempo rendition of the classic Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn tune, "You're the Reason Our Kids are Ugly." He was also listed among The Boot's Top 10 Americana, alt-country, bluegrass and folk acts to watch during 2017.

Readers who have any information regarding Cauthen's stolen van and trailer should call 916-808-5471.
