Midland Odessa Pet Of The Week
Every Wednesday we feature a different pet that needs a new forever home here in the Basin from Lonestar Sanctuary For Animals. Sometimes it's a dog, sometimes it's a cat. They haven't had any guinea pigs, hamsters, birds, or snakes---yet. But you never know!
Meet Niko!
This super adorable Pug mix is 19 weeks old and ready to find his forever home! Niko was an owner surrender and has been at the Sanctuary since he was a tiny little guy! He has been socialized with people and many dogs at the Sanctuary and has won the hearts of all of the staff! Niko is always on the go and loves to play play play! He wears out dogs twice his size but is great with them! Niko also loves toys and his favorite game is tug with another dog or person! Niko can be an only dog, but his new owner needs to understand that he will require lots of attention! He is still a puppy and likes to chew and will require lots of basic dog training as well as potty training. Niko is a Pug, Shih Tzu, Dachshund mix! He looks most like a Pug but will not have the normal breathing problems of the breed. He is a great little guy that doesn't have any special needs to adopt. If you have the time and patience for this sweet and funny little guy, please come meet him during the Sanctuary visiting hours of 1-4:30 pm every day except Thursday! Remember that most small dogs like Niko live around 15 years so be prepared to make that long-term commitment!
Once home, remember the rule of three: three days to decompress, three weeks to get used to your routine and home, and three months to feel completely at home.
