Department Of War Documents Show Texas As A Hotspot For UFO Encounters
A UFO document dump by The Department of War reveals that Texas is UFO ground zero! Fort Hood is even included in the list!
Texas Is a Central Hub for UFO Sitings
A massive document dump from the Department of War has revealed that Texas has been a central hub for unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) or “UFO’s” (Unidentified Flying Objects) for nearly a century. According to Chron.com, the expansive archive released last Friday details a history of unexplained encounters spanning from the late 1940s to a military-documented incident occurring as recently as 2026. One was even recorded in Central Texas.
Military Encounters and High-Speed Mysteries
In 1949, two officers at what was once known as Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth witnessed a silver, spherical object hovering over the flight line. According to their testimony, the craft reached estimated speeds exceeding 1,000 miles per hour before vanishing instantaneously. Similar sightings were logged near Fort Hood, Brooks Field in San Antonio, and even by NASA astronauts communicating with Houston Mission Control during the Gemini program.
The "Flying Saucer" Fever
The archives also capture the social hysteria that gripped the Lone Star State during the mid-20th century. In 1947, a resident of San Marcos sent a telegram to officials claiming to have invented a device capable of launching silent discs for miles, fearing his technology had been leaked. In 1948 in Memphis, Texas, witnesses in a rural area described cigar-shaped crafts falling from the sky, with one resident claiming to have recovered a metallic material resembling a blend of aluminum and tin.
A Close Encounter of the Stalled Car Kind
Perhaps the most famous inclusion is the 1957 Levelland case. The files corroborate accounts from multiple motorists who encountered a glowing, egg-shaped craft that allegedly caused their car engines to stall. Once the object departed, the vehicles reportedly returned to life. Think about the scene in the movie “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” where actor Richard Dreyfus’ truck turns off as the aliens approach.Watch the scene from one of my all-time favorite movies below.
The Human Element
Beyond technical radar logs and pilot testimony, the files provide a window into the personal lives of Texans affected by these events. One 1967 FBI memo from Dallas describes a woman who claimed to have established contact with an extraterrestrial being, while another letter from Harlingen detailed a veteran’s combat sightings from 1945.
