Texas is about set another record, and it is a record that amusement park enthusiasts across the planet have been looking forward to for almost a year when Six Flags and Cedar Fair completed their merger on July first of last year. At one point, I was part of a secret organization that traveled around the world enjoying the greatest roller coasters you could find.

OK, so maybe the American Coaster Enthusiasts (ACErs) are not a secret organization, but they did just finish their 47th Coaster Con which is held mostly in June (Twice it was held in the month of July), and part of me was hopeful the 48th Coaster Con would be held near the ACE headquarters of Grand Prairie to help welcome a brand new, record breaking and first of its kind coaster to Texas.

Why is the new roller coaster coming to Six Flags over Texas so special?

There are only 7 giga coasters on the planet, so the new ride scheduled to debut at Six Flags Over Texas will join very select company, and Six Flags will be operating 5 of the 8. When you consider Six Flags has been a pioneer in coaster innovation and the first ever Six Flags was Over Texas, it is about time a new ride like "Project Rubi" brought some clout back to the OG amusement park.

Project Rubi is the working title, so we are still waiting confirmation on the final name, but we are told it will be a dive coaster, which will make it a younger, but much bigger brother to Six Flags Fiesta's Cliffhanger. My second born projects to reach 54 inches by next summer, here's to hoping she can join her elder brother to be one of the first to enjoy this new record breaking ride.

KID FLASH Cosmic Coaster At Six Flags Fiesta Texas
