The City of Temple makes a big announcement about the Tanglefoot Music and BBQ Festival.

The Tanglefoot Music and BBQ Festival

On its Facebook page Monday, the City of Temple announced that there will not be a Tanglefoot Music and BBQ Festival this year. Temple hosted the first Tanglefoot Festival in September 2025.

The City of Temple Statement

In a Facebook post, the city explained the thoughts behind the festival decision.

“After much consideration, the City of Temple has decided not to move forward with the Tanglefoot Music & BBQ Festival in 2026.

The inaugural Tanglefoot Festival in 2025 was an exciting opportunity to celebrate music, barbecue, and community in downtown Temple. As the City reflects on the first year, staff will continue to review the event’s outcomes and ensure future event programming aligns with community priorities and long-term goals.

The City of Temple appreciates the support from residents, vendors, sponsors, and performers who helped make the festival possible. While there are no immediate plans for the festival’s return, the city remains committed to evaluating the inaugural event and considering future event opportunities that bring people together and support tourism and economic activity in Temple. In the meantime, we hope you’ll join us at other great events happening throughout Temple in 2026. You can explore our upcoming events at templetxevents.com. “
