I think everyone my age has ingrained memories of The George Lopez show. It was hugely popular and syndicated like crazy. If you fell asleep with the TV on, chances were the show's theme song "Lowrider" played in your dreams.

George Lopez began his comedy career as a stand-up comic, and in 2000 was approached, by none other than Sandra Bullock, to do a show that focused on Hispanic culture and family values.

The resulting The George Lopez show ran from 2002 to 2007 until it was infamously (and in my opinion, erroneously) canceled.  However, the show reran on Nick at Nite for many years later, when countless young people were exposed to it.

George Lopez has gone on to star in many other TV shows, stand-up specials and movies and even earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I particularly loved him as the mayor in Reno 911!
