Most of us have at least walked by Things Remembered in the South Plains Mall, but soon, you may only remember Things Remembered.

According to Reuters, the keepsake retailer is about to file for bankruptcy and is planning on closing the majority of the 400 stores it operates.

The Highland Heights, Ohio-based company, which employs roughly 2,500 people in the United States and Canada, is hoping to sell its brand and online business during bankruptcy proceedings, an effort that would potentially preserve hundreds of jobs, one of the sources said. Things Remembered is also seeking buyers for some of its stores, according to the sources.

I tried to reach out to the store in the South Plains Mall in Lubbock and the Midland Park Mall in Midland, and no one was allowed to make a comment. So standard rules apply: Until a formal store closing is announced, it's business as usual.
