Zuckerberg is now going to charge you! We have all seen posts going around Facebook all the time that Facebook will start charging you, now the stories are true, Mark Zuckerberg said so himself.

According to multiple media outlets including CNBC Mark Zuckerberg founder of Facebook and Instagram, now named Meta, announced that he will start charging a monthly subscription of either $11.99 or $14.99.

If you are looking to achieve the coveted blue check mark by your name you will have to pay for it and if you have an iPhone you will have to pay even more. You now no longer have to be a celebrity or a politician or an influencer to have the blue check mark. All you have to do is pay $11.99 per month if you only use a computer or you have an android phone. If you are an apple user computer or phone you will have to $14.99 to have the blue check mark.

According to CNBC, Mark Zuckerberg shared: “This new feature is about increasing authenticity and security across our services,” Zuckerberg wrote in the post.

A Meta spokesperson said Sunday that there are impersonation protections in place with Meta Verified subscriptions. In order to qualify, users must be at least 18 years old, meet minimum account activity requirements and submit a government ID that matches their profile name and photo. Subscriptions will also include “proactive monitoring” for account impersonation, according to the spokesperson.

Zuckerberg is following in the footsteps of Twitter, as Twitter has now launched the Twitter Blue program.

So if you are looking to achieve that blue check mark, you no longer have to work for it, you just have to buy it. But if you are like me I will just keep my free version because I don't care about a blue check mark by my name.
