Easter is a significant holiday for most Texas Christians, but it is celebrated worldwide in a ton of interesting and different ways.

1. SPANISH EASTER

In Spain, Holy Week, also known as Semana Santa, is celebrated with solemn processions.

Penitents dressed in hooded robes carry statues of Jesus and the Virgin Mary on floats.

2. PHILIPPINES EASTER

The Philippines has a two-week-long festival called Semana Santa that begins on Palm Sunday and ends on Easter Sunday.

The festival is highlighted by the Good Friday procession, where devotees re-enact the crucifixion of Jesus.

3. GREEK EASTER

In Greece, Easter is the most important religious holiday, and it is celebrated with a feast of roasted lamb known as Pascha.

Candles lit in the church are used to light traditional Easter bonfires that symbolize the resurrection of Jesus.

4. GERMAN EASTER

Germany celebrates Easter with decorated eggs, Easter bunnies, and markets selling Easter decorations and treats, PLUS something known as the Easter Egg Tree.

5. ITALIAN EASTER

Italy celebrates Easter with elaborate processions, feasts, and traditional Italian dishes such as lamb, artichokes, and sweet bread.

6. SWEDISH EASTER

Sweden has a unique tradition called påskris, where decorated branches of birch or pussy willow are exchanged for candy.

Children dress up as witches and go door-to-door exchanging their påskris.

Each country has its own unique traditions and customs, but regardless of the specific celebration, Easter is a time for reflection, gratitude, and joy.

Whether it's a week-long festival or a day filled with candy and toys, the celebration of Easter is significant worldwide.
