Every House In Texas Must Have These 7 Things… Does Yours?
Never have I ever witnessed more pride and pure love for where you're from than here in the Lone Star State. I've never seen any home decorated as I have here, beaming with home-state pride from door to door. Right along with it, is a deep belief in God and folks who are regular churchgoers each and every week. There's certainly a different culture here-one that's very old world, sweet, genuine, and real. Where people were raised with manners, a healthy fear of their parents, and at the core--the values of doing the right thing, treating others with respect, and just all-around kindness.
Being from the midwest and moving here-it's something to experience firsthand to be able to appreciate truly. I couldn't possibly feel more blessed moving here with my wife and starting over, surrounded by such a culture. In my travels, I have noticed there are certain things that are common house to house, street to street, neighborhood to neighborhood... Here are just a few observations so far from a newbie who's grateful to be here:
1. A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE PERGOLAS
That Texas sun gets HOT and it's a nice shady break on the patio when you have one.
2. THE TEXAS LONE STAR FROM THE STATE FLAG IS A CENTERPIECE
Pride. Love. And looks sharp too!
3. LONGHORNS OR DEER HEADS ON THE WALL ARE A BADGE OF HONOR
Whether you're a hunter or you have one in the family-these are everywhere.
4. TILE FLOORS
Because it's easier to clean with all the blowing dirt here coming inside with doors open and pets and kids in and out.....
5. CROSS / CRUCIFIX ON THE WALL IN THE LIVING ROOM
Deep Faith in God and Country and the Great State of Texas!
6. HUGE BIG SCREEN TVS
All the better to watch Football with!
7. SWEET TEA
Because why not? It gets hot here and Texans get thirsty!
