Yes, the Queen of England visited Texas 31 years ago visiting Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio, and she was the first British Monarch to ever visit Texas.

According to Texas Standard, she visited the state on a two-day trip back in May 1991 and Her Majesty loved her visit stating "Why didn't I come here sooner?"

Five years before that, King Charles (then Prince Charles) visited Texas to help us celebrate the Texas Sesquicentennial.

Queen Elizabeth II visited the River Walk, NASA, The Alamo, and the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. She also took a ride on a beautifully decorated barge on the San Antonio River.

When she arrived at Love Field, she was greeted with "The Yellow Rose of Texas" and the words to "God Save the Queen" were recited before the song was sung so the Texas audience would not sing the words to "My Country 'Tis of Thee" which shares the same tune.

She was accompanied by her husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh sitting next to him at the Hall of State Dinner commemorating the 150th anniversary of Dallas in which it was told that the Prince surprisingly had a vast knowledge of Texas history.

When she got to Austin, she was greeted by then Governor Ann Richards and then the Queen declared, "No state commands such fierce pride and loyalty. Lesser mortals are pitied for their misfortune in not being born Texans."
