Check Out The Massive Tornado That Touched Down Just North Of Midland/Odessa
Yesterday was a crazy weather day for folks here in the Permian Basin. I don't know about you guys, but I had golf ball size hail at my house yesterday. Luckily I don't think I suffered any damage but I haven't had my roof inspected yet, so we will see. My best friend asked me if my skylight got knocked out and I had completely forgotten my new house has a skylight. I was able to get my car in the garage just in the knick of time.
Many of you have posted pictures of the hail that fell at your house and some of the damage that was done. Midland hasn't had a storm like that in quite some time.
I started paying attention to the storm when I got the notification that Andrews was getting tennis ball size hail. I started watching the radar and knew it was headed our way. Before I knew it, golf ball size hail was falling. It sounded like someone was throwing baseballs at my house. Luckily for us, even though a tornado watch was in effect for parts of the Permian Basin, we didn't really see much activity. This however was not the situation just north of us.
The small panhandle town of Morton, a town about 50 from Lubbock saw a massive tornado. What started out as a large cone quickly developed into a large wedge, that covered a massive amount of ground space. Thankfully no one was hurt or killed by this massive tornado. Luckily the tornado didn't pass through the city and stayed on the outskirts.
Check out this bad boy forming. This is one of craziest things I have ever seen.
