Casinos, Resorts, Flashy Shows! Could Dallas, Texas be the new Las Vegas?
Mark Cuban owner of the Dallas Mavericks is ready for bigger and better. As you know Mark Cuban is always up for a new venture. Not only will it involve basketball but a Las Vegas-style casino and resort.
Mark Cuban has plans to build a new arena for the Dallas Mavericks to play in along with a Vegas-style casino and resort. His plans would be to put the resort, casino, and arena in the heart of Dallas.
According to Forbes, Mark Cuban wants to partner with the Las Vegas Sands to get the project up and running:
“My goal, and we’d partner with Las Vegas Sands, is when we build a new arena, it’ll be in the middle of a resort and casino,” Cuban told The Dallas Morning News. “That’s the mission.”
There is only one BIG problem, gambling isn't legal in Texas as of right now and it won't be voted on until November of 2023. Texas Senator Carol Alvarado out of Houston has filed the paperwork to create a Texas Gaming Commission to regulate sports betting and issue licenses for up to four casino and resort destinations in the state’s major metropolitan areas.
Alvarado believes that someone like Mark Cuban onboard it would help push things along since he is willing to put his own money on the line. Another plus is Mark Cuban partnering with Las Vegas Sands, the founder Sheldon Adelson, was a huge supporter of Greg Abbott for Governor, and even after his passing, his wife still supports Governor Greg Abbott financially. We all know how supporting someone financially helps speed things along.
I would love to see casinos come to Texas. In fact, if we offer a more Vegas-style atmosphere, we would see more big events come to Texas.
