Brandi Carlile and Sam Smith have shared an emotional re-imagining of "Party of One," the final track from Carlile's newest album By the Way, I Forgive You. Readers can press play above to hear the rich orchestration and intricate harmonies delivered by the artists.

A portion of the proceeds from the duet will be donated to Children in Conflict via Carlile's Looking Out Foundation. Carlile and Smith became acquainted through Children in Conflict, for which they both serve as international ambassadors. The foundation provides for children impacted by war.

“This is a song about deep and enduring compassion. It’s about trying to navigate domesticity, love and particularly marriage whilst being willed to fail by those that would revoke that right if they could." Carlile shares in a press release, adding that the tone of the song made sense in connection to Children in Conflict. "It felt only right to use our platforms and music as a tool to spotlight the work they are doing to help children affected by war. We hope the vulnerability of this song reflects the fragility of their situation and compels people to support our cause.”

Smith, who says he views Carlile as a mentor, echoes the same sentiment about the drive behind the duet.

“I am so excited for everyone to have this song in their ears and hearts," the "Stay With Me" artist says. "I hope you all love this as much as I do. And I hope this raises as much support as possible to the incredible charity Children in Conflict and its partner, War Child UK, of which I’m a global ambassador."
