Be Careful On The Roads In West Texas July 4th Weekend!!!
Summer is here! Triple-digit temperatures (or close to them), pools are open, and everyone's ready to enjoy the sunshine. And our first OFFICIAL summer holiday is coming right up! Just a few days away from grilling, fireworks, and having fun with the family. We are ready to cut loose and have a party! Some even took today (Friday 7/1) off work so they could have a four-day weekend. Remember to keep the bigger, more dangerous fireworks out of the hands of the little ones! When I was a kid, all we were allowed to play with were the little firecrackers, the 'snaps', and 'snakes'... Nothing bigger.
However you plan to celebrate-whether it's going to downtown Odessa for the car show and street party tonight and BACK FOR THIS YEAR--FIREWORKS, or to downtown Midland for the fireworks, live music, beverages, and food... Keep this in mind: the need to cut loose and have fun with family and friends is not an excuse for being irresponsible and partying too hard and then getting behind the wheel. Let's be safe and responsible and keep everyone's family safe for the holiday weekend.
DPS announced they will be adding patrols and officers to the highways in West Texas over the holiday weekend. So--don't drive if you're drinking--spend the night where you are and drive home the next morning if you're at a house party. If you're at a city celebration--call an UBER. And even if you've not been partying and you're just running out to the store--WATCH YOUR SPEED. Let's all play it safe and responsible this 4th and enjoy the weekend!
