Sure--it's fun to order a movie On Demand, hop into your PJs and pop some microwave popcorn, and kick back... You don't have to deal with lines at the concession stands (let alone the prices!), you don't have to deal with crowds. You can sit back with a blanket in your favorite chair or on your comfy couch and enjoy. No traffic, no hot or cold weather to deal with-just the comforts of home. HOWEVER-there are just some movies that MUST be experienced on the big screen at a theater. There is NOTHING like seeing the characters come to life on the big screen, the amazing scenery and full picture, and the booming sounds you get from the theater.

When you're there it's almost as if you're a part of the action because the movie on that size screen is bigger than life. Movie genres that you MUST see at the theater: Anything Sci-Fi like a Star Wars story or Star Trek, Super Hero like the new Batman with Robert Pattinson or the latest Spider-Man, anything action-adventure like James Bond and the like, and anything Horror (You have to be able to hold your sweetie's hand in the theater right before the slasher strikes!).

When you go, though, remember--it's NOT your living room, and it's not your own private showing (unless you're rich and you've purchased the entire theater for a screening)...  Having said that, some things to keep in mind:

#1. HAVE AN IDEA IN LINE AT CONCESSION BEFORE GETTING TO THE COUNTER.

Yes-there are approximately 10 to 12 minutes of previews/trailers that show prior to the actual movie starting-but that doesn't mean that I want to stand behind you in line at the concession and then end up having to find a seat in the dark, while you stare at everything on display for 20 minutes deciding what you and your crew are going to snack on.

#2. IF YOU'RE BRINGING THE KIDS-DON'T LET THEM KICK THE BACK OF MY CHAIR.

I've had this happen to me one too many times not to mention it here. I don't want to have to be the one to turn around and ask little Johnny or Suzie to stop kicking my chair. Please handle it FOR me and teach them proper manners at a movie theater.

#3. WHILE WE'RE ON THE TOPIC OF KIDS-KEEP THEM QUIET DURING THE MOVIE.

Nothing worse than missing half the plot because you can't hear what's going on because there's a full-blown conversation going on right behind you or next to you that, most of the time, has nothing to do with what's going on on the screen.

#4. LIKE THEY SAY ON THE BIG SCREEN DURING PREVIEWS-SILENCE YOUR CELL PHONE.

Unless you're the President of the United States and you MUST be able to be reached at all times-please turn the ringer and notifications sound off so that we all can enjoy in silence. (And if you ARE the President-I want a selfie with you after the movie!)

#5. SPEAKING OF CELL PHONES-STAY OFF THEM DURING THE MOVIE.

You don't need to chronologize the movie on social media as it unfolds before your very eyes on the big screen. Save it for afterward. The only exception is if something happened with the kids at home while you're out on date night and the sitter needs to reach you.

#6. PLEASE HOLD YOUR CONVERSATION WITH YOUR POSSE TILL AFTER THE MOVIE.

I always apply these very same rules to myself when heading to the theater. Let's all be respectful of those around us--and ENJOY THE SHOW!!!
