Singer-songwriter Amy Ray is premiering the music video for her working-class, road-weary musician's anthem "Tonight I'm Paying the Rent" exclusively for readers of The Boot. Press play above to watch the brand-new cip.

As its title might indicate, "Tonight I'm Paying The Rent" tells the story of a musician who's still working to make ends meet. In the song, Ray sings about driving to Nashville to perform at the legendary Bluebird Cafe, spending hours on the highway and dealing with chatty fans "talkin' at the back of the bar" as she's playing.

"Oh, if it don't feed the soul, it's still heaven sent," Ray sings in her delightfully raspy and rich alto in the song's chorus. "Yeah, tonight, I'm payin' the rent."

According to Ray, the music video for "Tonight I'm Paying the Rent" was filmed when she and her band opened up a show for Americana-blues-jam band stalwarts the Tedeschi Trucks Band at the Coliseum in Macon, Ga., in January, as well as during some studio time at Asheville, N.C.'s Echo Mountain Recording Studio. Sozo Bear Films, a company from Ray's hometown of Dahlonega, Ga., filmed the clip.

Ray is joined for "Tonight I'm Paying the Rent" by guitarist Jeff Fielder, fiddle player Adrian Carter, Mat Smith on pedal steel, bassist Kerry Brooks and drummer Jim Brock. The song appears on Ray's forthcoming album Holler, a 14-song effort that features appearances from Derek Trucks, Brandi Carlile, Vince Gill and Bon Iver's Justin Vernon.

Holler is set for release on Sept. 28 and is available for pre-order now. Fans can visit Amy-Ray.com to learn more about the record and Ray's upcoming tour dates, which begin in Macon on Oct. 23.
