I hate to keep saying this but as the saying goes "all good things must come to an end" and it looks like it is happening again in Lubbock. Joyland Amusement Park in Lubbock has closed the gates for the last time unless someone decides to come in and purchase the park. They had just finished their 50th season. I guess if there has ever been a time to go out, it's on your 50th anniversary.

The family that owns Joyland Amusement Park in Lubbock issued a statement on their Facebook page:

It is with mixed emotions for us to announce Joyland will not be re-opening. Joyland will be auctioned on October 27, 2022. If an interested party with a viable offer is not found by October 1st. We have been blessed with 50 years of wonderful memories, fabulous employees, and amazing guests, who have all touched our lives. The threat of flooding in Mackenzie Park, struggling labor fulfillment, continued vandalism, and our aging bodies are all contributing factors to this decision. We would like to THANK our TEAM through the years  who have helped us keep Joyland a safe and enjoyable place to visit. Never forget the importance of having fun....for the greatest legacies we can leave are HAPPY MEMORIES.   The Dean Family 1973-2022

Joyland Amusement Park has been a part of so many people's lives for many years. So many birthday parties have been had there and so much more. It is so sad to see another childhood legacy close its doors.

We are losing so many establishments because businesses can't find help or their hard work is being destroyed by vandals.

Just like Water Wonderland was going to be revived, those dreams were crushed when demolition began not too long ago.
