29 Years Ago Today Country Music Lost One Of The Best
Born July 1, 1954 in Ashland, Kentucky, Jackie Keith Whitley would grow up to become one of the most iconic voices in country music. But in 1989, is life would end tragically way too soon.
Keith Whitley is know for his iconic voice and story telling heart felt songs. His first top 20 hit "Miami My Amy" and his next three singles would make it to number one, "Don't Close Your Eyes," "When You Say Nothing At All," "I'm No Stranger To The Rain." His other two hits, "I Wonder Do You Think Of Me" and "It Ain't Nothing" were released after his death in 1989.
Keith Whitley married fellow country star Lori Morgan in 1988, he also suffered from alcoholism and severe depression. Though happily married and on a mission to beat his demons, Keith Whitley would lose his battle and his life to alcohol poisoning in 1989.
Keith Whitley is definitely a voice and icon that was lost way too soon. There is no telling what kind of career Whitley would have had.
God Bless Keith Whitley
