Reba McEntire, Hillary Scott Nab Dove Awards Nominations
The 2017 GMA Dove Awards nominees were announced this week (Aug. 9), and two of country music's most popular acts made the list.
Reba McEntire and Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum both scored nominations for their work, with McEntire appearing in the category of Bluegrass/Country/Roots Recorded Song of the Year for "Back to God" and Scott in one of the night's biggest categories, Song of the Year, for her powerful hit "Thy Will," along with co-writers Bernie Herms and Emily Lynn Weisband.

McEntire is up against fellow country singer Bradley Walker, along with gospel acts the Isaacs, the Nelsons and Doug Anderson. Scott will face off against a number of nominees including Jason Ingram, Natalie Grant and Lauren Daigle, the latter of which performed alongside McEntire at the 2017 ACM Awards in a performance of the Dove nominated song. Danny Gokey is also up for an award in the category of Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year for his 2017 project, Rise.
"Back to God" serves as the lead single off the country legend's debut gospel album, Sing It Now: Songs of Faith and Hope, released in February of 2017, which landed her at the top of Billboard's Christian Albums and Top Country Albums charts. The single also reached No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Christian Songs chart.
Scott also scored a No. 1 on both the Billboard Hot Christian Songs and Christian Airplay charts with "Thy Will," which appeared on her family's gospel album, Love Remains, earning them a win for Best Contemporary Christian Album at the 2017 Grammy Awards.
The 2017 Dove Awards air Oct. 16 on TBN.
