12 Odessa Restaurants Recognized By Texas Monthly
Whether we want to admit it or not, most of us are foodies at heart. I know when I go on vacation, my friends and I love to try local restaurants and hot spots. Who says you can't do that here at home? I am sure there plenty of restaurants restaurants that you have never tried here in Midland/Odessa. Twelve local restaurants in Odessa were recently featured in the April edition of Texas Monthly, calling them foodie hot spots. Several of these restaurants I have tried and the rest I am definitely going to have to try them. Let's see who made the list.
1. Barrel and Derrick
Barrel and Derrick is located in the downtown Odessa Marriott. You will feel like you are in a high-end restaurant not just because of the ambiance but the menu as well. On the menu you can find Hawaiian Poke, Waygu steaks, and specialty dishes. Their bar is something you would expect to see in movies and they are the only place you can get an Archie Special. 2. Brantley Creek BBQ
Brantley Creed BBQ is located on Faudree in Odessa. Brantley Creek started out as a food truck and then built a brick-and-mortar location. If you want BBQ you better get there early as they sell out every day. If you don't get there before selling out, you can always enjoy a smash burger and a refreshing drink.
3. Curb Side Bistro
Curb Side Bistro is located on Andrews Hwy and is owned and operated by Chef Alex, who you may have seen on the Food Network's Beat Bobby Flay and Chopped, where he won. Curb Side Bistro offers more comfort food like sliders and loaded fries. They also have a location in Midland.
4. El Taco Loco Birria
El Taco Loco has three locations in Odessa on Grandview, 2nd Street, and 1936. Known for their Birria tacos they also serve quesadillas, family-sized pizzadilla, and vampiros.
5. Flair Taverna
Flair Taverna is located on the corner of University and JBS. Most of their menu is Italian but they also offer dishes with French and Spanish flares. They also have a great bar with live music from time to time.
6. Mamasita’s Mexican Grill
Mamasita's Mexican Grill located on Maple Ave offer authentic Mexican cuisine and atmosphere. They are known for their spicy enchiladas and chicharrones. Mamasita's also has live mariachi's from time to time.
7. La Fiesta Bakery
If you are looking for empanadas or a sweet treat this is your place. Located at 327 St Ann St in Odessa, you better get there early before they sell out.
8. Mi Piaci Italian Restarant
Mi Piaci is located on Grandview just south of University. If you are looking for authentic Italian food this is your place. Starting from their bread to dessert, everything is divine. You better go hungry because the plates are huge.
9. Red Oak Kitchen
Red Oak Kitchen is located at 191 by Cork and Pig, which is their sister restaurant. Red Oak Kitchen is known for their wood fire pizza and brunch.
10. Southern Maid Donuts
Southern Maid Donuts has several locations in Odessa. They first opened their doors in 1937 and have been a staple of the city ever since.
11. Taqueria Reynosa
Taqueria Renos known for the tacos el pastor is located at the corner of Grandview and University. If you can't tell by all the cars outside, it's a pretty popular spot.
12. The Legendary Barn Door.
The Barn Door is located on Grant Street and has been serving its customers since 1963. The Barn Door is known not only for its steak and other great options but it's the cheese and bread that brings everyone back. Don't forget to take a pie with you when you leave.
