Texans have one, super weird way of drinking Dr Pepper and it is so good that it is spreading very quickly from Texas to the rest of the United States of America.

Dr Pepper is one of the true lone star legends. Invented in Texas, (and still available in the original bottling plant and online made with pure cane sugar), this tasty treat is one of Texas' best gifts to the universe.

Note: There's no period after Dr - Seems it had something to with advertising and font sizes in the 50's. Whatever the reason, there isn't one so, everybody, stop adding one.

As much as Texans enjoy being different, we can also be kinda weird and there's one very weird way we drink Dr Pepper - hot. Very hot. With lemon. My friend, and former KLAQ DJ, "Magic" Mike loved getting lemon Dr Pepper when we'd go to Char-coaler on Mesa but he always got his on ice.

Advertising peeps originally came up with hot, lemon Dr Pepper in the hope that it would catch on and boost sales during winter. It totally worked, becoming a very popular drink, especially around the holidays, all throughout the 60's and 70's.

The recipe is pretty simple: Heat Dr Pepper to 180 degrees, (some recipes say "until it starts to steam"), then pour it over a thin slice of lemon into a cup. Or a glass. Whatever. Feel free to adjust the amount of lemon too ... you're welcome.
